Gameplay
Stealth – To get to your target unseen, you will need to utilize your surroundings. When moving into a new area, hold (R1 / RB / Ctrl) to activate Instinct to spot any guards that may compromise your mission. Get around them by crouching (R3 / RS / C) to reduce your noise levels and maintain a low profile. You can also remain out of sight by blending into crowds and hiding in containers.
Disguises – Highly secured areas are going to be difficult to enter without a disguise. After subduing a target, hold (X / A / T) to acquire their uniform. Be sure to change your disguise often to help reduce suspicion and infiltrate new areas.
Distractions – Audio distractions are a versatile tool that can help you remain undetected. Use them to get past guards, isolate a target, or perform actions without anyone noticing. Consider equipping coins in your loadout as no one can resist the sound of money hitting the floor!
Weapons – In Hitman 2, almost anything can be used as a weapon. Experiment with every item you find in each destination to craft the perfect kill. Be aware that killing non-targets will reduce your score so use non-lethal weapons such as wrenches, lead pipes, or batons to simply knock them out cold.
Mission Stories – Eavesdropping on a conversation can unlock Mission Stories for you to follow. Not only do these stories provide you with additional insight on your target, they will guide you to completing your job in unique ways.
Mission XP and Scoring – Completing a mission and its challenges will provide you XP towards your Mastery. As your Mastery in a destination progresses, you will unlock additional loadout items, stash locations, and starting locations for the next time you play.
You will also be tracked with other agents on a leaderboard based on your performance. You will gain a higher score if you do the following:
- Complete the mission objective
- Are never spotted
- Perform unnoticed kills
- Leave bodies unfound
- Stay hidden from security cameras
- Avoid Non-Target kills
- Complete the mission in a timely manner
Game Modes
Story Mode – Help Agent 47 hunt down the mysterious Shadow Client and bring down his militia in the Hitman 2 Story Mode. If you own Hitman (2016) on the same platform, you can redeem the Legacy Pack (https://go.wbgames.com/H2LegacyPack) to replay the events of the first game using the new additions featured in Hitman 2.
Contracts – In Contracts mode, you can create your own challenge or play challenges that other players have generated.
To create a challenge:
- Select a location
- Select your loadout
- Play the game
- Mark NPCs in the mission as targets and eliminate them. The method you use to kill them and the disguise you are wearing determines the criteria for the Contract. To mark a target, press (R1 / RB / Ctrl), then highlight an NPC and press (△ / Y / E).
- Exit the mission
Elusive Targets – Elusive Targets are limited time contacts where you have only one chance to take them down. If you die, you cannot restart and if you kill the target, it creates a permanent record of how you performed. There are no do-overs and no second chances. Completing these contracts will yield you rewards such as additional weapons and suits for your loadout.
Sniper Assassin – Take on the role of Knight and Stone in Sniper Assassin. In this mode, you are given 15 minutes to eliminate three targets and their bodyguards using a sniper rifle. This is easier said than done as your targets are surrounded by wedding guests and every action you perform has a consequence. You can tackle this challenge alone or with a friend in online co-op.
Ghost Mode – Ghost Mode is an 1v1 online competitive mode where the goal is to earn 5 points before your opponent does by eliminating targets. To earn a point, the kill must be unnoticed and the body cannot be found for a short time afterwards. To help you in your mission, you will be able to pick up items, disguises, and weapons from Ghost Crates.
Each player is given their own reality where their actions only affect their own surroundings, however you will see a ‘Ghost’ version of your opponent so you can tell what they are doing, what they are wearing, and what items they are holding. Ghost Items are an exception to this rule as they can be used to influence the reality of your opponent. Keep in mind, these items will impact your own reality as well!
